8. Ballarat 2 Day - two weeks out

Tues 24/1 - 55 arrows. Group 1 for 30 arrows, walk back 25 arrows.

I shot again Monday 30/1, only 10 arrows and lost the piece of leather from the rest, along with two fletches. Ended up cutting the feathers back an inch and dolloped some glue on the leading edge, also glued back on the leather. Tomorrow is the day!

Wed 01/02 - 48 arrows. Group 3 for 30 arrows, walk back 18 arrows.

Thur 02/02 - Club Indoor shoot returns. 3D targets first up in the rotation and we have one of each target group 1 through 5 with five arrows at each. The scoring is 20,18,16 with a max score of 500. I shot a 348.

In the indoor shed A grade is to the right of the witches hat which is usually separated by Badminton nets. The coloured Olympic style targets on the left are B grade with distances set for the kids' abilities.
We feel this encourages them to gradually improve while still being able to see better results at set distances over the course of the night and over a few weeks and then we make them shoot longer distances. Comfort zones are where dreams go to die.

Indoor Score

Sun 05/02 - Outdoor ABA standard 3 arrow first up with 1 arrow after lunch. The company was good, the weather cool and dry, my shooting was ordinary at best.
I hit two trees, skimmed off another with an old arrow that I couldn't find this time.
I missed shots I should have gotten, shot way too many third arrows and had way way too many one arrow washes -10 ffs, Ten!.....and the list goes on.

Three Arrow
One Arrow
One thing I noticed this week was a little bit of target panic creeping in, even though I have started practicing more at home there is still a long way to go.

Another thing that I also noticed was a bit of lingering self doubt and perceived pressure I placed on myself by second guessing distances and third guessing my gaps. The scores above reflect this so it needs work.
The mental game is crucial for confidence for me, I know I can be my own worst enemy if I listen to the wrong voice in my head.

The form reminder with the new arrows is shooting left. If I manage to get my form mostly correct, the arrows shoot straight, it's then when I see the need to sort out my gaps.

The above sums up my day. First one a little high then it goes pear shaped, left high and 10mm from a star picket, right higher and just caught the side of the butt. I did find this on the funny side though as bad as it is.

Of course shooting with two freestylers may have been a distraction in itself. I'm still yet to see the difference between a 20 and a shit 20 when I'm happy to hit the target face at all.

Once I got home and after a bit of a rest I decided to strap on the quiver and get some more practice in - 42 arrows Group 3 range 16m - 24m

FL14 Tally:
This period  - 155 arrows @ home
                    - 57 arrows @ outdoor shoot
                    - 25 arrows @ indoor shoot
2023 Total Arrows - 334
Casualties - 0
